Welcome to the 5^th and 6^th grade classroom!

We are in our 3^rd year working together as co-teachers with Chelsea Eisenga teaching math, science, and Bible in the morning and Ashley Murray teaching social studies, language arts, spelling, and reading in the afternoon.  We enjoy the opportunity to teach part-time so Chelsea can be home with her children Jeremiah and Grace in the afternoon and Ashley can work on finishing her Master’s degree from Western New Mexico University.

Our class is made up of 15 students:  eight 5^th graders and seven 6^th graders.  Several of our students started their education at ZCMS in kindergarten.  This year, we added three brand new students to our class.  We look forward to a great year ahead!

Throughout the year, 5^th and 6^th students are challenged to learn and take more responsibility in many ways:

• Getting their school and homework finished each night
• Home reading of 150 minutes each week
• Using a money class system by which students earn and lose money for different classroom tasks and behavior
• Learning to choose right actions that will benefit themselves socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually
