  • ZCMS is fully accredited in the State of New Mexico through Christian Schools International, governed by a local board of Zuni Christians and staffed by certified mission-driven educators.

ZCMS uses NWEA testing to track student progress. Students also take part in the Renaissance Learning program which allows them to test and track their development of reading and comprehension.

All ZCMS students have access to 1:1 iPads which are used under supervision for various class projects and purposes. In addition, 5th-8th grade students also have access to 1:1 laptops.

  • Our mission statement is for students to be planted in Biblical truth, and surrounded by God’s grace. About 80% of ZCMS students come from non-Christian homes, but still come to learn about God's loving care for His world.

Chapel, prayer, Biblical study, service opportunities and discipleship by staff members all contribute to faith development.

  • Classes are small and range in size from 8 to 22 students. The teacher:student ratio is about 1:12. With the exception of kindergarten and 5th grade, combined-grade classrooms give teachers the opportunity to work with the same children for two consecutive years.

Throughout the year, there is an active volunteer tutoring program. Thus, each child is given individualized attention to help them reach their full potential.

  • Parents consistently testify that a safe and nurturing learning environment are primary reasons for selecting ZCMS for their children. We strive to cultivate a family atmosphere amongst staff and students where everyone takes care of each other.

  • Students develop cultural pride, and competency in the Zuni language. Students in K-8 receive instruction from our Zuni Language teacher and are taught to practice their Zuni values.

Throughout all school activities, students are challenged and encouraged to celebrate their unique and rich heritage. Songs, prayers and Scripture are memorized in the Zuni language.

  • From weekly parent communication to special activities and events, we want our families to be apart of their child’s education and know that we are on the same team.

Some family events include parent open houses, Family Reading Night, Fall Festival, Grandparent’s Day, Student vs. Parent basketball games, Space Night, various music programs, and many more.

  • God calls us to love and serve one another. At ZCMS this extends to our community and the world beyond through service projects, school fundraisers and teaching that challenges our students to use their gifts to make a positive impact.

Each year students participate in all-school activities that include picking up trash around the community and creating encouraging cards for veterans, seniors, or inmates at the detention center.

Students and families have participated in fundraisers to help ministries like World Renew with disaster relief efforts, and Samaritan’s Purse who provide boxes of toys and supplies for children in need in other countries around the world.

  • Teachers and staff at ZCMS consistently go above and beyond to help students know that they are loved and valued. Whether they are struggling academically, socially, spiritually or emotionally our teachers have a deep desire to see each child thrive through prayer and support that extends beyond the classroom. Currently ZCMS employs 12 full-time and 4 part-time staff.

  • Athletics at ZCMS are an opportunity for students to learn teamwork, discipline and cultivate healthy lifestyles. Due to the small size of our school we offer cross country in the fall, and basketball in the winter/spring. Coaches and teachers emphasize the importance of balancing academic achievement and expectations when students make the choice to participate in sports.

  • Some of the extracurricular opportunities available at ZCMS include student council, student led clubs (cooking, gaming), programs and performances, and field trips that take learning outside the classroom. We believe that hands-on experiential learning and opportunities to form connection with the outside world enhances their ability to apply knowledge in meaningful ways, and prepares them to better succeed in life.
